Mark
Dannenfelser is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Georgia
and a Masters level New Jersey State Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug
Counselor (LCADC). He holds the Master Degree in Counseling Psychology (MA)
from Montclair University and the Master Degree in Pastoral Studies (MPS) from
Spring Hill College. He also holds a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from
Spring Hill College and is a commissioned presenter for Contemplative Outreach, Ltd..
Mark has received advanced training in Trauma and Eye Movement Desensitization Response (EMDR) Basic Training, Level I and II, by the EMDR Institute, Inc.; Professional Training in Mind/Body Medicine, under the direction of Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. and Saki Santorelli, Ed.D, Center for Mindfulness in Medicine, Health Care, and Society at the University of Massachusetts Medical School; Professional Training in Mind/Body Medicine, under the direction of Herbert Benson, MD, Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine, Massachusetts General Hospital; Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, by The Center for Applications of Psychological Type; FOCCUS for couples, by FOCCUS Inc.; and The Centering Prayer Facilitator Training, by Contemplative Outreach, Ltd. under the direction of Thomas Keating, O.C.S.O.
Mark currently works in private psychotherapy practice in Atlanta, Georgia. He specializes in the treatment of trauma, post traumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorders, panic, stress, and substance abuse/dependence. His theoretical orientation is integrative. He utilizes empirically validated clinical practices, combining cognitive-behavioral approaches, EMDR, mind/body techniques and Mindfulness training.
He is adjunct lecturer in the Theology Department of Spring Hill College, Atlanta. Mark wrote and developed several of the courses in both the graduate and undergraduate divisions, He currently teaches "Psychology and Spirituality", and the "Seminar in Spiritual Direction", now offered in the Graduate Theology program's certification and master degree programs.
His clinical and academic interest focuses on the point of intersection between psychology and spirituality. His therapeutic goal is to assist integration of these areas in order to foster healing.
